Gmail alternative

Keep the address. Change the inbox.

Most people looking for a Gmail alternative don't want a new email address — they want to stop living in that tab. AI Emaily runs your Gmail, plus Outlook, iCloud, Fastmail, Proton and any IMAP account, in one AI inbox that drafts the replies for you. Same address, no migration.

Two different things get called a Gmail alternative. A different app for the mail you already have — that's us. A different company hosting your mailbox — that's Proton or Fastmail, and we'll say so plainly below. AI Emaily is not an email provider. We don't give you an address; we make the ones you have workable.

See it work

Your Gmail, in an inbox that answers it for you.

Connecting the account, the morning brief, a reply drafted and approved. No slides — the actual product.

01Why people start looking

Three reasons to leave Gmail. Only two of them mean leaving Google.

The interface stopped helping.

Tabs, categories, and a promotions folder that quietly eats things you wanted. Gmail is a filing system that assumes you'll do all the writing, and after a decade of tuning filters that's still true.

Gmail is only one of your addresses.

There's the work Outlook, the iCloud one on your phone, the address on your own domain. Gmail can forward some of it in, badly. Nothing joins it up properly.

You'd rather Google weren't in the middle.

A fair reason, and the one this page is most careful about — because leaving Google's inbox and leaving Google's servers are two different moves, and only one of them is us.

02What we can and can't replace

We replace the app, not the mailbox.

Being straight about this is cheaper for both of us than a signup that churns on Friday.

You want…

A better app for the mail you already have

AI Emaily

Keep every address exactly where it is. AI Emaily connects to Gmail — plus Outlook, iCloud, Fastmail, Proton and any IMAP box — and becomes the inbox you work in. It reads what arrives, drafts the replies in the voice you set, tracks what's still owed, and waits for your approval. Nothing is migrated and nothing is lost if you leave.

You want…

A different company hosting your mailbox

Proton Mail or Fastmail

We don't host mailboxes, so we're not the answer to this one and won't pretend to be. If getting off Google's servers is the goal, Proton Mail (end-to-end encrypted, Swiss) and Fastmail (independent, paid, no ads) are the two worth your time. Move your address there — then connect it to AI Emaily, because we support both natively.

03How it works

Nobody has to hear from you about a new address.

01

Connect Gmail — and everything else

One-click OAuth for Gmail, Outlook and iCloud; presets for Fastmail, Proton and any IMAP host. Your labels, threads and aliases come across natively. Nothing is migrated — your mail stays with your provider.

02

Set your voice and your rules — once

A tone, a sample of how you write, and profiles for the people who matter. That's what the drafts come from. Then you decide what it may handle alone and what always waits for you.

03

Keep the address. Stop living in the inbox.

Everyone still emails you at the same place. You just stop opening Gmail to answer it — the replies are already written, waiting on one click.

04What changes

Everything except your email address.

Nobody has to learn a new address.

No forwarding rules, no “please update my email” message to two hundred contacts, no six months of missed mail.

Gmail stops being a separate app.

It sits in one inbox with Outlook, iCloud and anything on your own domain — one search across all of it.

The replies are written for you.

Not Gmail's three-word Smart Reply. The full message, in your voice, ready to approve.

Nothing dies in the promotions tab.

Triage you actually control, plus staged follow-ups for the threads still waiting on an answer.

05Privacy & control

No ads. No profiling. No training on your mail.

If Google-in-the-middle is what pushed you here, these are the parts that matter. More on the security page.

You approve every send

In Copilot mode nothing leaves your account without a click from you. Autopilot is opt-in and only ever acts inside the rules you write.

Undo and an audit trail

Every action the agent takes is reversible and recorded. You can always see what it did, when, and why.

Never trained on your mail

Zero-retention with the model providers, and your email is never used as training data. Bring your own key on the higher plans if you'd rather it never touch ours.

Your mail stays with your provider

We connect with minimum OAuth scopes. Nothing is migrated into a walled garden, so there's nothing to extract if you leave.

06Side by side

The rows that decide it.

Note the first row: we're the only column that isn't a mail host, which is exactly why you keep your address.

07Before you switch

Six questions worth asking any Gmail alternative — including this one.

01

Do you want a new app, or a new provider?

The whole decision. A new app changes what you look at every morning; a new provider changes who stores your mail. They cost very different amounts of disruption, and most people only need the first.

02

How many addresses do you actually have?

If the answer is more than one, any alternative that handles a single provider is a partial fix. That's the trap most Gmail alternatives fall into.

03

What happens to fifteen years of archive?

Changing providers means migrating it (and often losing threading). Changing apps means it stays exactly where it is. Ask which one a tool is asking you to do.

04

Does it write, or just organise?

Most Gmail alternatives are a tidier list. If the hours go into replying rather than reading, a tidier list won't buy you any of them back.

05

What's the exit cost?

Ask what happens on the day you stop paying. Our answer: your mail was never ours to hold — it's with your provider, and it stays there.

06

Is the AI trained on your email?

Ask directly, and ask about the model provider too. It should be no on both counts, in writing.

The things people ask first.

It depends which half of the problem you're solving. If you want a better inbox for the mail you already have, AI Emaily replaces the Gmail app while keeping your Gmail address — and adds Outlook, iCloud, Fastmail, Proton and IMAP to the same window.

If you want to stop Google hosting your mailbox entirely, that's a provider change, and the two worth looking at are Proton Mail (end-to-end encrypted, Swiss) and Fastmail (independent, paid, no ads). We don't host mailboxes, so we aren't the answer to that — but we connect to both, so you can do the provider move and still get the AI inbox.
