How correct reply-from works across domains#

Two AI email tools that do not fit the multi-domain job

Shortwave signs in with a Gmail or Google Workspace account and does not support Microsoft 365 or Exchange; other providers such as Fastmail or Zoho work only by auto-forwarding into Gmail plus SMTP send-as, not a direct IMAP connection (verified on shortwave.com, August 2026), so it cannot hold a Microsoft-hosted domain and treats non-Google domains indirectly. Superhuman Mail connects Gmail, Google Workspace, and Microsoft 365 accounts but not generic IMAP or Exchange (verified via Superhuman's Help Center, August 2026), so a Fastmail- or cPanel-hosted domain cannot connect. Note too that Superhuman Mail, the client, and the Superhuman Suite are different things since Grammarly acquired Superhuman in July 2025 and renamed the parent company to Superhuman in October 2025 — check which one a source means.

Does sending from multiple domains hurt deliverability?#

Not by itself — as long as each domain is authenticated. Sender reputation and email authentication are tracked per domain, not per client, so gathering several domains into one inbox does not merge their reputations or drag one domain down with another. Google's sender guidelines say it directly: set up authentication for each of your sending domains at your domain provider, and DKIM and SPF are specific to your domain.

The client you compose in is not part of the signing. DKIM signing happens on your mail host's outgoing server using the key published in that domain's DNS, before the message ever leaves the host. So AI Emaily, Outlook, Apple Mail, Thunderbird — none of them changes a domain's DKIM, SPF, or DMARC outcome. If mail from one of your domains is failing authentication or landing in spam, the fix is in that domain's DNS and its host, not in which app you switch to.

The one real multi-domain pitfall is alignment: if you send from Domain B through Domain A's server without Domain B's own SPF and DKIM in place, DMARC can fail for Domain B. The rule that keeps you safe is simple — authenticate every domain you actually send from, on the host that sends it. For bulk volume the bar is higher (Gmail requires SPF, DKIM, and DMARC above 5,000 messages a day to personal Gmail accounts, with spam complaints kept below 0.3%), but those thresholds apply the same whether your mail leaves from one domain or ten. DMARC itself was standardized in 2026 as RFC 9989.

Switching email clients will not fix a DKIM problem

DKIM signing is performed by your mail host's outgoing server, per domain, not by the client you compose in. If sent mail from one of your domains is failing authentication or landing in spam, check that domain's DKIM, SPF, and DMARC records first — no client on this list, including AI Emaily, changes that outcome by itself.
