The comparison that actually matters is not price per seat, it is what you stop paying for. An add-in is additive: you keep your mail client and add a subscription. A client replaces one. Whether that is cheaper depends entirely on what you were already paying for the thing it replaces.

Who each one is genuinely for#

Pick by where your time actually goes this week, not by feature count.

If you are already paying for Microsoft 365 and only want drafting and summarizing inside Outlook, check what Copilot in Outlook does on your existing licence first.
