Ask AI

Ask your inbox a question and get a grounded, sourced answer.

Ask AI turns your inbox into something you can question in plain language. It retrieves the relevant threads and synthesises a direct answer — with sources one tap away so you can verify everything.

How Ask AI works

When you submit a question, Ask AI uses semantic search to retrieve the threads most relevant to your query. It then synthesises a plain-language answer grounded exclusively in your real mail — it does not make up information or draw on outside knowledge.

Every claim in the answer is anchored to one or more source threads, displayed as inline citations below the response. Tap any citation to open the thread.

Grounded in your mail only

Ask AI only surfaces information that exists in your connected accounts. If no relevant thread exists, it says so rather than speculating.

Quick-prompt chips

From the dashboard, a row of quick-prompt chips gives you one-tap access to the most common questions:

  • “What needs a reply today?” — surfaces threads awaiting your response, prioritised by urgency.
  • “Who am I waiting on?” — finds threads where you sent the last message and no reply has arrived.
  • “What did I agree to this week?” — pulls commitments and action items from recent threads.
  • “Any important updates I missed?” — highlights high-signal threads from your last 24 hours.

Ask AI — Q→A with sources
You askedWhat’s the status of the Meridian contract?
AnswerThe Meridian contract is in final review. Sara sent the redlined draft on 10 Jun and is waiting for your sign-off on clause 8. No deadline has been set, but her follow-up on 12 Jun flagged it as urgent.

Asking follow-up questions

After an answer, you can ask follow-ups in context — Ask AI remembers the conversation and narrows its retrieval accordingly. Ask “What did she say about the payment terms?” after the example above and it will search within the same thread cluster.

Be specific for better answers

Questions with a person name, a project, or a timeframe (“last week”, “Q2”) give Ask AI sharper retrieval signals and more precise answers.

Privacy

Ask AI processes your threads inside your Aiemaily workspace. Thread content sent to the language model is governed by Aiemaily’s zero-retention agreement with model providers — it is not used for training.
