Beyond the four built-in categories, Aiemaily learns which senders and threads you treat as important and surfaces them in dedicated views automatically.

VIP inbox

The VIP inbox surfaces messages from senders you consistently open quickly, reply to, or star. Aiemaily infers who your VIP senders are from your behaviour — you do not need to manage a contact list manually.

VIP messages also appear in Primary, so you never miss them. The VIP view is a convenient filter on top of Primary, not a separate silo.

Learning takes a few days

The VIP model needs enough interaction history to make confident predictions. For new accounts or fresh installs, the VIP tab may be empty for the first few days while it observes your behaviour.

Smart tabs

Smart tabs extend beyond the four built-in categories (Primary, Social, Promotions, Updates). Aiemaily can surface additional focused views — for example, a “Newsletters you read” tab distinct from unread Promotions, or an “Action needed” tab for messages that contain explicit requests.

Smart tabs are suggestions: Aiemaily proposes a new tab when it detects a coherent cluster of mail you interact with similarly. You can accept, dismiss, or rename a suggested tab.

Shows messages from senders inferred to be important based on your open, reply, and star behaviour.

Manually designate someone as VIP by right-clicking their name in any message header and choosing “Mark as VIP.” Manual designations are permanent until removed.

How it learns

The model observes open latency (how quickly you open a message), reply rate, star rate, and whether you snooze or archive without reading. These signals are processed on the server; no message content is sent to an external model for the learning step.

You can reset the learned state at any time from Settings → Inbox → Smart tabs → Reset learning. The VIP list and any manually designated senders are unaffected by a reset.

Pair with labels and rules for maximum control

Smart tabs handle the adaptive, inferred layer; labels and rules handle your explicit, deterministic preferences. They work together: a rule can apply a label, and a smart tab can surface threads that also carry that label.

Disabling smart tabs

If you prefer a plain inbox without AI-organised views, go to Settings → Inbox → Smart tabs and toggle them off. The built-in categories (Primary, Social, Promotions, Updates) and the VIP designation still work independently.
