Connect Zoho Mail
Connect a Zoho Mail account to AI Emaily using the IMAP tab and a Zoho app password.
Zoho Mail does not have a one-click tab in AI Emaily. You connect it through the IMAP tab using a Zoho app password, after enabling IMAP access in your Zoho Mail settings.
Before you start
Zoho Mail connects through the IMAP tab. You need two things from Zoho first: IMAP access enabled, and an app password generated from your Zoho Account.
Use an app password, not your login password
Enable IMAP in Zoho Mail
IMAP access is off by default on many Zoho accounts. Turn it on before you connect, or the sign-in will fail.
- 1
Open Zoho Mail settings
Sign in to Zoho Mail and go to Settings.
- 2
Find Mail Accounts
Open Mail Accounts, then the IMAP section.
- 3
Enable IMAP
Turn on IMAP access and save.
Create an app password
- 1
Open your Zoho Account
Go to accounts.zoho.com and sign in.
- 2
Go to Security
Open the Security section, then App Passwords.
- 3
Generate a password
Choose Generate, name it (for example, AI Emaily), and create it.
- 4
Copy the password
Copy the generated app password. Zoho shows it once, so keep it handy for the next step.
Add it to AI Emaily (IMAP tab)
- 1
Open Add mailbox
In AI Emaily, open Add mailbox and select the IMAP tab.
- 2
Enter your email
Type your full Zoho address, for example you@yourdomain.com.
- 3
Paste the app password
Paste the Zoho app password into the password field, not your normal login password.
- 4
Confirm server settings
Use imap.zoho.com on port 993 (SSL) for IMAP and smtp.zoho.com on port 465 (SSL) for SMTP. If your account is in a specific region, use the matching host (see Troubleshooting).
- 5
Save
AI Emaily verifies the connection before saving. If the test fails, a hint indicates which setting is likely wrong.
Server settings
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| IMAP host | imap.zoho.com |
| IMAP port | 993 (SSL) |
| SMTP host | smtp.zoho.com |
| SMTP port | 465 (SSL) |
| Password type | Zoho app password (not your login password) |
Troubleshooting
- Authentication failed: you likely pasted your normal login password. Generate an app password at accounts.zoho.com under Security > App Passwords and use that instead.
- Authentication failed even with the right password: confirm IMAP is enabled in Zoho Mail under Settings > Mail Accounts > IMAP. Connections are refused until IMAP is on.
- Two-factor accounts always require an app password. Your account login password will not work over IMAP.
- Connection refused or timed out: check the host and port. IMAP is imap.zoho.com:993 (SSL) and SMTP is smtp.zoho.com:465 (SSL).
- Region mismatch: some accounts live in a regional data center. Try imap.zoho.eu, imap.zoho.in, or imappro.zoho.com if the default host does not connect.
- Use your full email address as the username, including the domain.
